Margaret Woollett, the director of the Sewing School
Responding to the Lord's prodding and moved to action at request of Arco Iris Ministries, MMDR began working in Mozambique in 2006 providing healthcare to the indigenous peoples and micro-enterprise opportunities for a community of widows.  One of the micro-enterprise opportunities is a sewing school that teaches vocational skills to 75 widows a year, employing them to create numerous products and specifically a purse.  This purses are called the "Handbags of Hope" and is sold and marketed by MMDR in the  U.S.  The proceeds from the purses are returned to the sewing school and invested into the lives of these women.  The student's lives are drastically changed.  Before they and their children barely survived and now each woman's kids are able to attend school, are well nourished and healthy, and the love of God is manifesting itself in the lives of these Mozambicans in tangible, beautiful ways.
