Quality Education: A Basic Right

In Haiti, there is a huge crisis with children not being able to attend school, something that should be a basic right. This right is taken away from many children because 90% of schools in Haiti are privately run causing tuition to be too expensive for many families (World Bank). In fact, according to the World Bank, more than 200,000 children remain out of school in Haiti. Of the children who do attend school, 60% of them will not reach the sixth grade (UNICEF). The sad reality is that the education system in Haiti is only equipped for the elite, which creates a vicious cycle of poverty. Quality education increases literacy, equips children for better jobs, and curates thriving communities.

Quality Education Transforms Communities

Education is a long term beneficial factor for communities. Quality education for the younger generations will reap its benefits when they become a part of society. The main focus in Haiti is first getting children in school and then helping them stay in school. With these two key factors, communities can be transformed.

While we recognize that an education isn’t the end-all answer for a poverty-stricken country, it is a great starting place. That is why LiveBeyond created a school with free tuition, accessible for any child to receive a quality education. Our goal is for these children to receive a quality education and become thriving members of the Thomazeau community.

Let’s Break This Vicious Cycle

Our teachers are equipped with an American standard curriculum. This helps provide these children with the best educational experience possible. We truly believe that education is a basic right for each child. We will continue to shape the Thomazeau community by providing free and accessible quality education for children.

Together we will change the world one life at a time. While tuition is free for each child, there are expenses that need to be covered. You can help with these costs by sponsoring a child. If you feel inspired to help a child attain an education, you can sponsor a child today by clicking here
