Chronic Malnutrition: A Need For Change

Did you know that in the Thomazeau region alone it is estimated that there are 9300 children who experience chronic malnutrition? This is a very harsh reality for these children in Thomazeau.

The Problem

Chronic malnutrition can have many lifelong effects if not treated properly and promptly. According to the CDC, consequences of malnutrition include birth defects, undeveloped cognitive ability, and reduced productivity. As you can see, these consequences cannot to be taken lightly. A child who is suffering from malnutrition can experience affects throughout their life by not being able to develop to their full cognitive ability. This only continues to feed into the recurring poverty cycle.

What We Are Doing

This week, October 5-9th, is Malnutrition Awareness Week. We are using this week to launch our Child Nutrition Fundraiser. Our goal for 2021 is to feed all 9,300 malnourished children in our region of Thomazeau!

Because of your incredible generosity, LiveBeyond currently provides meals for 3,200 children each weekday. These meals are nutritious and protein-packed. While we are reaching a large population, we want to expand our reach and eradicate child malnutrition for the 6,100 remaining children in our region.

How You Can Help

We need your help to accomplish this great endeavor!

We have calculated that it will cost $256,000 to provide meals each weekday for an additional 6,100 children next year. This is a big task, but we know we can accomplish great things together.
